New Member Orientation

So, wonder of wonders, my rant post “It’s Time to Retire the ‘Make Your Own’ Argument” was chosen by WordPress editors as a standout post, and made it to the Freshly Pressed page along with quite a few other spectacular posts.

*grabs the mic*

Now this is cool, and I’m gonna finish it in a second…but first I would just like to thank all the little people whose backs I had to step on to make it here today. You surely weren’t a crystal stair…

Joking. Though, I would like to thank all of you who read and comment and congratulate and make it easier for me to keep writing these posts.

Also, an immense thank all of you who have recently liked the Freshly Pressed post and subscribed to the blog. For you new people, don’t be shy. I’ve been writing on and off here for the past 5 years, and I don’t intend on stopping now.

Feel free to like and comment on anything. Check out my About page. Dig into my list of published works. I also made a list of what I consider to be my best, or most interesting posts. Get amongst those, if you want.

If you want to interact with me in real time (though, I don’t see why anyone would want to do this) feel free to navigate over to @TroyLWiggins on twitter and give me a follow. Also, though it’s in its infancy, you can follow me on tumblr as well.

A note: Most of my blog posts examine geek culture, black culture, diversity, and the intersection of all of these. I do a fair bit of ranting on sensitive topics. Feel free to engage but please be thoughtful while doing so. I don’t want an echo chamber, but I don’t like or feed trolls.

Alright. I guess that’s it. I look forward to kicking it with all of you!
